After taking a second win in the NZ MTB Downhill Championship series at Methven on the weekend, Brook Macdonald moves another step closer towards the overall title.
The Mt Hutt track was a dry and dusty affair for Friday's practice session. The top section of the track was a quick ridge line 4 WD track leading into some good, fast jump sections. The jumps and drops wove their way into some technical switch backs inside the pine forest, before a decent drop off (which claimed a few victims) to the finish. Times ran in the mid 2 minutes for the leaders.
Brook Macdonald qualified first and never looked like loosing that spot. In the final run he went even quicker, blitzing the field riding as the last man down and keeping everybody on their feet around the finish line before taking out the win in round 3 of the National Championship. Brook also scored a win the previous week at round 2 in Dunedin.
Brook is looking forward to finishing up the series before heading to Sth Africa in March and then onto Europe for the rest of the UCI Worlds.
