"Its the law of the jungle: if I can't see your face, I can't buy your drugs." - The Gaslamp Killer runs into some creep in a wrestling mask pushing smoke out of a dark corner behind us at this years Dour Festival...
Dour is an otherwise forgotten town south-west of Bruxelles, done out with wonderful brickwork in wax-brown, ochre and bloodish reds. All the worlds water is falling on her and it has amplified the colour, adding to the scene a phosphorescent silver quality. Its raining like the world is ending and I feel as lonely as Oliver Twist. Not for long as several artist liaisons bound up to us when we arrive. They are nice single serve friends for the day, vegan student artists doing a bit on the side. Very caring.
This is a really nice event to play, the crew are smooth operators and everything is set up on risers when we arrive and we just push ‘em on stage. Take note this is the way to roll. On the bill with us is Nosaj Thing, who completely steals the show with a truly amazing visual show which he controls through midi, check it here.
We also catch a very dope set by Flying Lotus with drummer Richard Spaven and Dorian Concept on a stage rhodes and micro korg.
