Fat Freddys Drop Live in Auckland and Wellington

Fat Freddyʼs Drop are pleased to announce shows at The Mercury Theatre, Auckland and The Front Room, Wellington.

Freddys is leading the charge for live music at the oldest surviving theatre in Auckland. Established in 1910, The Mercury Theatre has recently been used as a cinema and an evangelical church.

Congregating at The Mercury Theatre for two nights on 20th and 21st May and The Front Room on 4th June, Freddys promise a riff of old and new tunes that theyʼll be taking on the road overseas. The international tour takes in a headline show at the 5000 capacity Brixton Academy in London, followed by shows in Ireland, Portugal, Germany, Poland, Norway, Belgium, France, Spain and Brisbane.

Having stated during their On The Road to Opononi Summer Tour that New Zealand would see less of Freddys in 2011, the Auckland and
Wellington shows are a response to the reaction from the bandʼs local fanbase.

The bandʼs only local performance since January has been at the “Cuba For Christchurch” multi-band fundraiser. The intimate vibe at San
Francisco Bath House inspired them to choose similar sized venues for their upcoming shows. The Mercury Theatre is strictly limited to 578 seats while The Front Room has a capacity of 650.  Fans still talk about Freddyʼs Halloween gig at The Front Room back in 2009.

Kicking off the New Zealand shows, Freddys are pleased to offer a free download of Fat Freddyʼs Drop Vs The Electric Flashback 2011, a sonic Flashback remix by upstanding new London band The Electric headed by producer DJ Vadim. The download is available now at Freddys Soundcloud: http://soundcloud.com/fat-freddys-drop/fat-freddys-drop-vs-the

The focus for Fat Freddyʼs Drop on their return home from the Northern Hemisphere will be recording a new studio album. Yeah right.
