BMX dirt rider Kye Forte has made a place in the final of Red Bull Stomping Ground his goal as the UK star gears up for a battle with Corey Bohan.
Stomping Ground takes place on a Chicago construction site on May 14-15 and the unique event which will feature 45 of the world’s best riders has captured the imagination of former Dirt Jumping champion Forte.
“It’s my first trip over [to America] this year. It’s going to be mega. Hopefully the flights will be running by then!” said the 28-year-old.
“I reckon the best part of the event for me will be actually getting to go to Chicago because I’ve only ever been there for change of airlines and stuff so it’s pretty cool for me just to go there and check it all out.
“My goal is just to make the final and if I get there then I’ll try and pull a few tricks out of the bag and think about placing after that because it’s going to be pretty tough. There are 30 or 40 riders there so almost half the field goes and I want to make sure I’m in that cut.”
The course has been designed by one of Forte’s heroes, dirt legend Tim ‘Fuzzy’ Hall: “Fuzzy’s been in it for years so if anyone’s going to do a good course it’ll be him. I always looked up to him as a kid so going to a comp that he’s putting on is pretty rad.”

Fuzzy has promised ‘turns, twists, hips and tons of options’ so Forte is looking to make the most of vital preparation time over the next few weeks.
He said: “I’m feeling great but I've not been riding quite as much as I’d want, mainly because of the weather over here. It’s only just got dry enough so you can ride jumps.
"It takes a couple of months really to get back in the swing of things. Hopefully in the next two or three weeks I’ll get to ride a bit more.”
A competitive field is headed by Corey Bohan – the 28-year-old native of Brisbane is the only rider to win back-to-back X-Games dirt gold and Forte highlighted the Aussie as the man to beat.
“Dirt-jumping wise, Corey Bohan’s always going to be in there. There are so many other talented kids, though, like my brother, Leo. It’s endless. In the UK we’ve got such a massive scene."
