Mariana Pajon’s recent gold rush continued last week as she claimed the Women’s BMX title at the Central American games in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.
Having travelled to the games determined to bring back the top prize, Pajon’s discipline was rewarded as she saw off competition from Stefany Hernandez and Stephanie Barragan. The triumph gave the 18-year-old Colombian her fourth gold medal of 2010 after she triumphed at the Panamerican and South American games in Ecuador.
Pajon’s speed and ultra-precise style has made her the woman to beat on the BMX scene as she prepares to fly the flag for her country at London 2012.
Her preparation for those games has already begun, despite having only recently graduated from High School. Up next for the youngster is a trip to South Africa for the 2010 UCI BMX World Championships in Pietermaritzburg.
