Singer/songwriter Katie Thompson released her debut album, Tall Poppy in 2009. Since then Katie raised $50,000USD online to produce her second album Impossible through the fan funding website, Sellaband.com in a short 15 months, as 295 investors from around the world recognized her potential and embraced her music.
Impossible was produced in the UK in 2010 at Modern World Studios by world renowned British producer, Greg Haver. The album has been described as a treasure-trove of rare and beautiful songs, blending elements of pop, folk and country.
2011 was a very successful year for Katie including the release of her second album, two music videos, Good As Gold getting on Classic Hits “As Kiwi As”, a finalist at the National Country Music Awards and topped the year off by winning the right to open for Sir Elton John at his only New Zealand concert.
Katie has just released her 3rd single Cruel To Be Kind with an accompanying music video which was funded by NZ On Air.
Katie is back from a South Island tour with fellow singer/songwriter Fleur Jack and is already planning a New Zealand tour for the summer. In the meantime she will be getting new material polished and ready to start the next album.
