Red Bull BC One Custom Designed New Era Hats
One of Aotearoa’s most talented graffiti artists, KERB1 flew up from Wellington especially to create custom New Era hats for the Red Bull BC One Asia Pacific Qualifier.
Because graffiti is a fundamental part of the hip-hop culture, each hat was individually customised with different elements of graffiti art with each recipient’s name, including the 16 competitors, judges, host Rahzel and DJ Mar Ski.
New Era, the largest sports-licensed headwear company in the world, made just 24 white Red Bull BC One branded hats. The highly crafted headwear was then designed to embrace the unique style of each B-Boy and profile the B-Boys for their battles in the qualifier.
The fronts of the white New Era snapbacks were sprayed and drawn onto with a variety of colours, which took KERB1 two days and two nights to complete. The art began with a single colour background, before more colours were blended in and a name was applied.
The talented artist Kerb1 is also a club DJ and DJ for the MC crew “The Wanderers”. He is based in Wellington and is the former owner and runner of Top Shelf Creative.
