Multi-faceted is Julien Dyne's middle name. Well, it isn't but it should be, as he encompasses the roles of drummer, producer and visual artist with significant success.
We at the Academy would also like to give ourselves a little pat on the back and everyone else a smug look, because we noticed his prowess back in 2004, when he was selected as a participant for our Rome edition. Since then he has worked with artists all over the globe, including legendary musicians and producers like the Mizell Brothers, Om'mas Keith, Steve Spacek and Mark Pritchard.
His debut album on BBE introduced Julien as a skilled producer and served as a platform to show off those facets we mentioned before. His sound is difficult to pin down, as it encompasses hip hop and funk, afro-beat and jazz, collaborating with musicians from across the spectrum including John Crayford, Paul Dyne, John Bell, and Isaac Aesili.
