As he prepares to claim his first Winter X Games win in Aspen, Colorado this week, Canadian snowboarder Seb ‘Toots’ Toutant tells us what have been the highs and lows of his career so far…
Best Day: Storming to victory
“When I won the O’Neill Evolution three weeks ago, that was the highlight so far for me. It was such a fun contest and a perfect set-up. The Final was amazing and all the riders were riding so well.
‘I stomped my best cab 1260 double cork and got first place’
Before dropping for my last run, I was sitting in fourth place and I was the last rider to drop. I stomped my best cab 1260 double cork and got first place. I also had two of my best friends up there on the podium with me.”
Worst Day: Injury in Innsbruck
“That has to be the Air & Style contest in Innsbruck last year. It was my first Air & Style and I was first on the TTR World Tour after a good start to the season. I was really excited to try the jump.
‘It took me three months to get back on my board’
I dropped first and overshot the jump really badly and broke my right ankle and right wrist… that was a day I’ll never forget and it took me three months to get back on my board.”
