Red Bull and Travis Rice have confirmed which snowboarders will be competing at the inaugural Red Bull Supernatural at Baldface Lodge near Nelson, BC, Canada.

Sixteen star riders will do their freestyle thing on a series of runs over natural terrain on one day between February 3-8. The handpicked boarders, hailing from seven different countries, will be battling it out to be crowned the best all-around snowboarder on the planet in this unique backcountry competition.

The list is comprised of the top finishers from the Quiksilver Natural Selection – Mark Carter, DCP, Nicolas Müller and Wolfgang Nyvelt. Established pros and freeride contenders, including Jake Blauvelt, John Jackson, Mark Landvik and Terje Håkonsen, are next. And rounding things up is a freestyle contingent of Scotty Lago and Kazu Kokubo, plus two wildcards.

Wildcard invites will go to the winner of the men’s slopestyle final at the X Games on January 28, and to the current top seed on the TTR World Tour, Canada's Mark McMorris. If McMorris wins the slopestyle final at the X Games, the second wildcard spot will go to the silver medallist.

Red Bull Supernatural’s judging panel will include snowboarding legends Tom Burt (Head Judge), Andy Hetzel, Temple Cummins, Shin Campos, Bryan Iguchi and Mel Simmons (Assistant Head Judge). The team will be taking into account the line’s risk, flow, amplitude, creativity, tricks and control.

Riders will be judged on their use of the course and how they navigated its steep wooded sections, two cliffs, a 300ft-wide jump and a lower powder-park section.

Competitors get two runs with a bonus third run going to riders who finish in the top eight. Whoever ends the day with the highest score takes the swag.
