Star Slinger Heading To New Zealand

star slinger.JPG

For onetime art-house theatre usher turned full-time sample chopping party rocker Darren Williams of Manchester, better known as Star Slinger, 2010 and 2011 were breakout years. Operating like a Detroit school hip-hop producer/DJ with both throwback rave sensibilities and the mosh-pit energy of Dipset producers The Heatmakerz, Star Slinger's music effortlessly transcends stylistic boundaries, folding rap, RnB, indie rock and dream pop influences into the mix.

Along the way, through both original material, inspirational DJ mixes and vividly imaginative remixes for the likes of Deerhunter, The Cocteau Twins, Mt Kimbie and A$AP Rocky, he's developed a reputation for sold-out roadblock shows. And with his kaleidoscopic sounds, and nightclub wrecking DJ energy has come spirited acclaim from The Guardian, Spin, Pitchfork and The Fader, and a Diplo remix of his single 'Dumbin'.

This April, he will make his New Zealand debut through two performances, Friday the 27th in Auckland at Khuja Lounge with Pikachunes and Scratch 22, followed by a Saturday the 28th appearance at the 2012 edition of Red Bull Thre3Style, at Macs Brew Bar, Wellington. Come witness a rising talent sitting just on the cusp of new echelons of success. Bragging rights are guaranteed not optional. Star Slinger; get familiar, it’s gonna be a party!

TICKETS for the Auckland date are on sale now from UnderTheRadar.co.nz and Real Groovy. Limited $10 earlybird tickets available online by using the promo code 'earlybird'.

TICKETS for the Wellington date will be on sale W March from 1-Night.co.nz, Cosmic Corner and Rough Peel Music.
