You could be forgiven for thinking that Sebastian Vettel would be winding down at the end of his incredible year, but not a bit of it, as he intends to impress in his homeland first. The F1 World Champion explains all in his latest blog...

This weekend is truly special for me. I not only have the chance to compete twice at the Race of Champions in Dusseldorf, but I am also doing a show run in Berlin.

But first things first. Yesterday I had the chance to check out the track in Düsseldorf and I have to say that we really need to use every second of the brief amount of practice time we get. The track is extremely tight, but luckily it has enough grip to make it awesome to race on.

It's also a great opportunity to meet and spend time with other drivers, who race in other classes or different cars. Events like the Race of Champions allow us to meet up as friends and race our cars without any pressure. Of course, the 90 seconds we spend in the cars on the track get us back in to race mode, but that's normal. I just enjoy having a great time with all the guys.

What makes the event so special is that you can explore the track with different vehicles, which gives it diversity. I really enjoyed the Audi A8 yesterday – it's power was amazing. But I also liked driving around in the Buggy, which gives you the chance to drift around and have a lot of fun.

Before the Race of Champions I'm a guest in Berlin and allowed to race my car around at the Brandenburg Gate. I am extremely thankful that the guys were able to pull this event off in such a short time and I hope that I'll see a lot of people there. After all, this event is for the fans. I just want to thank each and every one of them and show them that I really appreciate them and their support.

Straight after Berlin we'll get head back to Düsseldorf, where we'll make a brief show run as well on Sunday to also give the people in the Esprit Arena the chance to see it. Of course we won't have as much space as in Berlin, but I am sure that we'll have enough room for a few doughnuts!

Another highlight, if not the highlight this weekend, is to race in front of my home audience again. It just gives you an extra amount of motivation and power. My main goal is to do well in both races, the Nations Cup with Michael Schumacher, as well as in the race on Sunday.

Sebastian
