Other Side of the World is a British Council online music collaboration project, between selected young musicians from New Zealand (utilizing networks such as Mike Chunn’s Play It Strange Programme, and the Red Bull Auckland Studio) and young indie band artists from the Roundhouse’s Take Part programme in Camden United Kingdom.
The idea is to create an EP of new creative commons music, recorded between London and New Zealand, over each day/night using studios at Roundhouse and the Red Bull Auckland Studio, utilizing online tools such as Soundcloud and Inbada. This project emphasizes the tools available on the Internet, and the spirit of sharing and creative collaboration.
Each evening will be the change over part of the session, when the NZ musicians have finished recording they will then meet the UK musicians by Skype, to discuss the recordings that will be about to happen in Camden. Neither artists will have ever met each other, nor neither will have experienced recording a track together.
Parts of the music will then be loaded and promoted on the our creative commons site, as well as through the Camden Roundhouse’s site and the Red Bull Studio platform.
Kicking off at the end of May this is one very exciting project for the Auckland Red Bull Studio and PIYN.
