- About
- Red Bull BC One is an annual international b-boy, breakdance competition organised by Red Bull. Unlike other 'crew' competitions, the dancers compete one-on-one in a straight knockout tournament featuring 16 b-boys. Wishing to furtherenhance its already impeccable reputation, Red Bull insisted on choosing the competitors based not only on their exceptional talent, but also on their character and standing within their local communities. A panel of five judges presides. The event has been held in a different city and country every year. Starting in 2004 in Biel, Switzerland, 2005 in Berlin, Germany, 2006 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, 2007 in Johannesburg, South Africa, 2008 in Paris, France, and 2009 in New York City, USA. This year we head to the World famous city of Tokyo, Japan. An official Red Bull BC One DVD was released for the 2004 and 2005 events. These DVDs were heavily criticised when, due to musical rights, the live music played during the competition had to be dubbed over. From 2006 and on, Red Bull stopped releasing DVDs and made the videos available online for free. Alastair Siddon directed a film about the Red Bull BC One 2007. The title is of that movie is "Turn it Loose" and it will be released in March 2010. Check out the YouTube link below for videos of previous years' b-boys.
