- About this Image
- One of the benefits of Red Bull Stratos is making the future of space flight and high-altitude flight safer. "The Space Shuttle escape system is certified to 100,000 feet. Why is that? Because Joe Kittinger went there. You’ve got a lot of companies that are vying for the role of being the commercial space transport provider for tourism, for upper atmospheric science, and so on. These systems need a potential escape system,” says Dr Jonathan Clark, a former NASA crew surgeon who is Red Bull Stratos's Medical Director.
