About this Image: As part of the film, Che walked Ryan through how the Cuban skaters build their boards. These homemade presses are a far cry from the presses used to make the boards you ride. The boards are not constructed by the traditional process of laminating and molding, but instead reshaping existing plywood. Through a series of steps comprised of soaking the plywood in water and bending it, each curve of the board takes a full day. A complete board takes roughly a week and might last a serious skater only a few days. That’s dedication. -Jody Morris
